WASHINGTON — Firefighters may have one more thing to consider when tackling car fires and other roadway incidents from next year on – the use of a safety vest.
Proposed updates to the Federal Highway Administration's Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices would require all first responders to wear high-visibility safety vests any time they operate near a roadway.
Firefighters still have time to voice their opinion, with the seven-month public consultation period not coming to an end until July 31. Some feel turnout gear already carries enough high-visibility trim in itself and that the additional use of vests could be unwieldy for firefighters at incident scenes...
Fairfield Two Fire Department decided to take thier new rig to the next level. The new Engine will go into service next week with memorials to fallen firefighters across the nation. The new 2008 Sutphen includes names from Fallen Local firefighters, The Charleston 9, and the 343 FDNY firefighters from 9/11

State police in Dauphin County said a house fire was intentionally set. The fire was discovered shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday in a duplex in the 300 block of Julian Street in Williamstown, state police said. The fire destroyed the duplex and damaged a nearby home. WGAL STORY
FDNY firefighters from Brookyn, NY went to work on a 2nd Alarm apartment fire that left many civilians, firefighters, and police officers injured. One boy that was rescued later died at the hospital with 85% burns on his body. The fire took place at 1001 Ocean Avenue in Ditmas Park.
